fab.school

Terms of use

Draft. These terms describe how fab.school actually works, but they haven't been reviewed by a lawyer. Have them checked before relying on them.

1. Who we are, and what fab.school is

fab.school is a marketplace. We list classes taught by independent teachers and handle booking, payment and the video classroom. We are not the teacher, and we don't employ them. Teachers set their own prices, schedules and syllabus; we review every teacher and every class before it goes live, but that review is not a guarantee of any particular outcome.

2. Accounts

An account belongs to a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. You add your children as learners on your account; children do not get their own logins. Keep access to your email secure — we sign you in with a code sent there, so anyone with your inbox can reach your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access.

3. Booking and payment

Prices are shown in rupees in India and US dollars elsewhere, and include a service fee on the part you pay by card. Fixed courses are paid once. Ongoing monthly classes renew automatically each month until you cancel, and we charge the card you saved at checkout. Cancel from your dashboard before the next renewal date and no further payment is taken. A trial session is a single class, not an enrolment.

4. Promo credit

Promo credit is a discount we give you, not money. It has no cash value, can't be withdrawn or transferred, and expires on the date shown in your account. Each class decides how much of its price credit may cover. If an enrolment is refunded, credit returns to your balance; cash returns to your card. We may withdraw credit obtained through abuse of referrals or duplicate accounts.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Ask us through support and we'll deal with it individually. As a guide: contact us before the first session and we'll refund in full; after a course has started we refund the sessions not yet taught. If a teacher cancels a session, you're refunded or rescheduled at your choice. Refunds go back the way you paid — card to card, credit to credit.

6. Live classes and recordings

Classes run on video inside fab.school. Teachers must not record learners. You must not record, photograph or re-share a class, the teacher or other children without written permission. Self-paced course videos are licensed to you for the access period shown, for your own family's use, and may not be downloaded or shared.

7. Behaviour

Classes are for children. Be civil to teachers and other families, keep an adult reachable during a young child's session, and don't share contact details to arrange lessons off the platform. We can suspend or close an account that puts a child at risk, abuses a teacher, or tries to take bookings off-platform.

8. Teachers

If you teach here you are an independent contractor, not an employee. You keep the agreed share of each enrolment and we pay out what has settled. You are responsible for your own taxes, for the accuracy of what your listing claims, and for following our safety rules. We may remove a class or end the arrangement if those rules are broken.

9. Things we don't promise

We work hard to keep the site running but can't promise it will never be unavailable, nor that a class will achieve a particular educational result. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Otherwise, our liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the booking it relates to.

10. Changes, and ending things

You can close your account whenever you like; classes already paid for run to their end. We may update these terms, and will tell you by email before a material change takes effect. If you carry on using fab.school afterwards, the new version applies.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru have jurisdiction — except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally, which it may if you're a consumer in the EEA or UK.
